Antique Bakshaish Rug – 990137

The Heriz area, although specializing in large carpets, also produces many interesting antique Persian scatter rugs, of which this is a particularly intriguing example. The camel- beige plain ground embraces an elongated dark blue central element embedded in a stepped pole medallion which is accented by charming small dragon figures.
The ivory main border is decorated by a diagonal leaf and rosette pattern, and is flanked by rose and yellow minors in a stylized palmette design.
The pile is quite short and carefully clipped with medium fine knotting. The condition is exemplary and the colors are all natural.
