Tabriz Carpet

This well-woven Tabriz carpet is a study in subdued tones of beige, medium and dark blue, light rust and pale green. An indented two level medallion with pendant roundels rests on a field of one way botehs. The semi en suite corners elaborate quarter medallions and have complex dark blue interior arabesques. The largest of seven patterned borders is in a turtle palmette pattern with curving vines connecting “fish” leaves and rosettes. The overall tonality is nearly pastel with light outlining to the individual motives. No  element stands out from the general design.
