Antique Heriz Carpet – 111001

A 16 lobed pendant green medallion contains an inner yellow sunburst and is closely tied to the rich red field by swirling arabesques, and a wide variety of leaves and flowers. The tightly coiled vinery extends to the dark blue corners. The yellow main border has lotus palmette and rosette motives derived from 18th century Turkish payer rugs.

The visual effect is one of elements in constant motion. The carpet was created for the same clientele that found Sarouk Farahans and Kashans so attractive. The colors are extremely saturated and intense, but of natural origin. They have not been toned down by washing or extraneous chemical treatment. The pile is clipped short for maximal design legibility.
